Welcome to the 200th edition of the Sneem Community Notice Board. Started in March 2009, this local newsletter keeps everybody up to date on what’s happening in Sneem and the surrounding areas. This month’s edition features the victorious rowers who took part in the All Ireland Rowing Championships in August. There are reports from local clubs and details of upcoming activities in the area.

The August edition of the Sneem Community Notice Board features the Seine Boat crew who won the Johnny Mahoney Cup on the front page. Inside are pictures from the recent Debs ball, a report from the Sneem Summer Festival and details of upcoming events in the village. Sneem Rowing Club regatta results are reported along with photos of the crews and we wish them the best of luck in the upcoming All Ireland Coastal Rowing Championships in Wexford.

The May issue of the Sneem Community Notice Board features the children who made their First Holy Communion on the front cover. Inside the Legendary Lightsavers from Sneem National School were runners up in the SEAI One Good Idea competition. Sneem Tidy Towns report on our entry to the Tidy Towns Competition and two further awards we are entering: the Schools award and the Local Authority Pollinator award. Details of the All-Ireland Pollinator plan are included. There are updates from Sneem Men’s Shed who are busy building bird, bat and barn owl boxes; the Autism Golf Classic which took place in Beaufort in April, the Sneem JFK Walk; news from Blackwater and Tahilla National School.

Legendary Lightsavers runners-up in SEAI One Good Idea Competition
Congratulations to the team of Legendary Light Savers from St. Michael’s National School, Sneem who travelled to Dublin on Wednesday 15th May 2018 and performed brilliantly coming away with the runner-up prize in the Primary Schools section.

Sneem JFK 50 Mile Challenge

The 7th Sneem JFK 50 Mile Challenge took place on 12th May. The Challenge was for competitors to complete 50 miles (80 km) within 20 hours.The walk began and ended in Sneem Village on the Ring of Kerry and the Wild Atlantic Way with around 60 people setting off from South Square at 5am on Saturday morning.

Sneem Community Notice Board Issue 195
The April issue of the Sneem Community Notice Board features Sneem National School’s Legendary Light Savers who have made it to the final eight in the SEAI’s One Good Idea Competition. They will be travelling to Dublin Castle on 15th May for the Final and we wish them the best of luck.
