Pollinator-friendly Rainwater Planters

Rainwater planters are mini rain gardens that slow down the flow of rainwater from rooftops. By diverting rain through the planter, they reduce overflow into storm drains and can help prevent flooding.

In May 2026, we installed 2 new rainwater planters in the village, one outside Nearly New in the North Square and a second between Riney’s and The Window Box on the South Square.

We made our planters pollinator-friendly by planting locally sourced native plants – ferns, yellow flag iris, meadowsweet, bugle, and watermint.

The planters were purchased with assistance from Kerry County Council through the Community Support Fund 2026.
