MeetPat Bottle Filling Station on Sneem Bridge

Sneem Tidy Towns Working Group is delighted to see our new bottle filling station installed on Sneem Bridge on 5th July 2019.  This unit provides free filtered water for all and its aim is to reduce the amount of single use plastic waste being produced by encouraging people to refill their bottles.

The June issue featured the 50th anniversary commemorations of former French President Charles de Gaulle’s visit to Sneem on the front cover. Inside the newsletter, you will find photos from the Little Church Friendship Day, Irish Dancing and end of year reports from Sneem and Tahilla National Schools, an update from Sneem Digital Hub, photos from Sneem Biodiversity Week and a pull out map of all the Defibrillators (AEDs) in the locality as well as what’s happening in Sneem over the next month.

Aidan Murray, Manager of Sneem Digital Hub  was interviewed by Bobby Kerr on the Down To Business show on Newstalk Radio last Saturday 2nd February.  You can listen back (about 9 mins) to the  Sneem Digital Hub podcast.  They got a great reaction including 72 hits to the website on Saturday morning and a Dublin-based company interested in exploring what we have to offer.  Great exposure to an audience of 112,000 people.

The February issue of the Sneem Community Notice Board featured pictures from the Annual Coomanassig Christmas party on the cover and inside.  There’s notification of various club AGMs, plans for St. Patrick’s Day, reports from Sneem TidyTowns, St. Michael’s National School, 15th Kerry Sneem Scouts Group and Blackwater News.  There’s also an article about the proposed “Story Village” and upcoming fundraisers for Sneem Digital Hub.

Fermoyle Loop Walk

This delightful walk gives a wonderful view of the beauty and history of the Sneem area.  It has been way-marked along minor roads and across wild hillsides with the collaboration of the landowners.  It is a walk to be enjoyed during all seasons.

The Fermoyle Loop Walk covers a distance of 14 kilometers on minor roads, farm tracks and way-marked paths across hillsides and through farmland.

The walk is of moderate standard, crosses a grassy hillside and takes approximately 4.5 hours.  Walkers should wear adequate footwear (walking boots), carry wet-weather gear and always respect the property of the landowners who gave access permission for this walk.

The route of the walk is marked by grey stone posts each with a WHITE arrow.

Brochures for the walk are available at the Sneem Events Office beside the Public Toilets on the North Square of Sneem Village.

Lomanagh Loop Walk

The Lomanagh Loop Walk covers a distance of 10.8 kilometers on minor roads, forest tracks and way-marked paths through farmland.  The walk is of moderate standard and takes approximately 3.5 hours.

Walkers should wear adequate footwear (walking boots), carry wet weather gear and always respect the property of the landowners who gave access permission for this walk.

The route of the walk is marked by grey stone post each with a RED arrow.

Walking brochures are available at the Sneem Events Office beside the public toilets on the North Square.
