An Post Rás

Sneem are delighted to be hosting the stage 4 finish of the Rás on Wednesday 25th May 2016.

This stage will begin in Dingle at 11am on the morning of the 25th and the cyclists will travel 100 miles passing through Caherciveen, Waterville, Caherdaniel and Castlecove, entering Sneem continuing on to Tahilla, up Gortagown, re-entering Sneem via the Killarney road to finish at the Sneem Hotel Entrance on Golden’s Height. We hope to see the cyclists enter Sneem between 2pm and 5pm.

Please note there will be traffic restrictions during this event.

The winners of this stage will be presented with their jerseys on the podium outside the Geopark Office in the South Square. We are delighted to have a Queen of the Rás, 3 children from our local schools (Sneem, Tahilla and Caherdaniel) on the podium that day, along with our local Post Master, John Damien O’Sullivan.

On the following morning, Thursday, 26th May, the cyclists will leave Sneem at 11am starting with an honorary lap of Sneem Village. They will start stage 5 leaving the village via the Kenmare Road on their way to Clonakilty.

In recent years we have had 4 local people participate in the Rás; Joseph White, Louis Moriarty, Paddy Joe O’ Sullivan (who participated 3 times) and Patrick Moriarty (who finished 4th only 1.37 off the leader).
